Asking how much a padel court costs is like asking how much a car costs; there are cars that cost €15,000, just as there are cars that cost €100,000 or more. They all have 4 wheels, an engine, and a steering wheel — the difference lies in quality, performance, and safety.

It’s the same with padel courts: there are courts that cost €15,000 and others that cost €35,000, but they are all made from the same components — tubes, nets, glass, synthetic turf.

Where’s the difference?
In the quality of the synthetic turf, the safety of the glass used, and the durability (or lack thereof) of the metal structure. These elements will ultimately determine the success or failure of your center. It’s not just about how much a court costs, but how much that court does for you! As everyone knows, today there are often several clubs in the same area, and players have learned to be selective: for the same game price, they will choose the best-performing court, the most aesthetically pleasing one, and the one offering the broadest range of services.

If you have a hall or an indoor space with a height of at least 7 meters and a foundation strong enough to support a padel court, the minimum cost is about €23,000 (excluding VAT) for VAT payers, including transport from Italy and installation.
For outdoor courts, you will also need to prepare a foundation, with prices ranging from €10,000 to €16,000 (depending on the area). If you want to remain operational during the winter, you should also consider a certified permanent cover, starting at around €35,000 per court.

Padel Club Constanța will accompany you throughout the entire process, from design to the construction of your sports center, always prioritizing safety and providing, upon delivery, all legal compliance certificates up to the TÜV SÜD certification, so you can play safely and sleep peacefully.

Cât randament are un teren de padel?

Padel is the sport of the moment, strongly connected to social media and experiencing exponential growth in Italy and worldwide. In Italy alone, the number of courts went from fewer than 1,000 in 2019 to another 8,000 in 2023. We expect that, at full capacity, more than 20,000 padel courts will be installed in Italy.

This means there is plenty of room for those who want to invest in this fantastic sport — perhaps unique in the world as a game option suitable for everyone. You can start playing and having fun from the very first day, and this is why so many people take up padel and become passionate about it.

The economic return of a padel court ranges between €1,000 and €5,000 per month, depending on many factors:

  • Quality of the installed courts (textured synthetic turf, tempered glass, galvanized rustproof structure)
  • Services offered by the center (comfortable locker rooms, the presence or absence of a restaurant, bar, pool, gym, shop inside the club, top-level instructors, secure indoor parking, children’s play area, air conditioning, tournaments supported by high-level sponsors, etc.)
  • Region and area of the city where the center is built (prices are lower in small or isolated towns and in facilities built on the outskirts compared to large cities and central urban areas)
  • Presence or absence of a cover that allows the club to operate 100% of the time, 365 days a year, regardless of weather conditions

  • Quality of management (you can’t improvise as a sports center manager — these are real businesses and should be managed as such)

  • Presence or absence of strong competitors in the area (opening a club with 2 courts in an area where there are already 2 clubs with 8–10 courts certainly makes the challenge tougher, but not impossible. It’s not uncommon to see small clubs with 5-star services outperform mega-centers where quality is lacking — and at the same price, customers will always choose the more comfortable club).

The more these factors are respected by the new club, the faster the investment will be recovered and the higher the profits will be.

De ce să investești în padel?

Padel is now considered one of the best investments for those who have savings and want to start a business, and especially for sports centers that own several tennis courts which are no longer as profitable as they once were.

The investment is often recovered in the first year, and at most in the second.

A well-known tennis racket manufacturer has just published its 2022 sales figures in Spain (the most advanced European country in this sport), showing that padel racket sales accounted for 60% of the total, compared to tennis, beach tennis, etc.

We could even say it is almost essential for all resorts and accommodation facilities that want to offer a sports alternative within their center. Today, many clients ask at the time of booking whether the facility has padel courts, and the answer directly influences their choice.

How do we identify the location we consider suitable for developing our business? It can be indoors, such as a warehouse or a stretched structure, or outdoors, such as a sports club, a field, an open space, a garden, or a beach.

It is important to remember that a padel center is a significant investment, and choosing the right location is essential for the success of the project.

The first evaluation is: indoor or outdoor?

Without a doubt, building a shed with a minimum height of 7 meters (9–10 meters is even better) is the wisest choice for several reasons:

  • The existing base is often suitable for vehicles, which avoids the need for building a reinforced screed beam costing €10,000–15,000 per court

  • The center will be accessible every day of the year and therefore much more profitable

  • If you have the opportunity to invest in an air conditioning system for the summer, success is almost guaranteed

  • There will be no wind or sun interfering with lobs and bandejas

  • Indoor parking is often available, fenced and secure, allowing clients to avoid theft from their cars on poorly lit and crowded evening streets

  • It is possible to add charging stations for electric vehicles, which will be increasingly in demand in the future

  • It will be easier to create comfortable, insulated locker rooms

If, however, we cannot find a property that meets our needs (which is quite likely, since finding affordable warehouses with the right heights and dimensions for padel is very difficult), we must opt for an outdoor solution. In this case, either we find a sports club to renovate, or, if we are lucky enough or have the opportunity to own land in an industrial or commercial area, the best investment by far is building a HANGAR — the most innovative covering in the world of sports. It is essentially a prefabricated shed made of wood and sandwich panels, fully eco-sustainable. Installing photovoltaic panels on the roof can eliminate construction costs in less than 10 years, while allowing year-round play in a climate-controlled environment — which is still a rarity in padel and beyond.

Equally important, after about ten years, the value of a tensioned structure costing hundreds of thousands of euros will be close to zero, while a warehouse — or more precisely, a HANGAR — gains value over time and can be easily converted into a production, craft, or commercial activity.

The last possibility is outdoor courts, which are the right solution in resorts, seaside facilities, or parks with landscape restrictions where covering is not possible. These are, after all, seasonal activities. In such cases, outdoor solutions are not only the only option but also a positive one, as they integrate well into the environment.

That said, an indoor court is certainly the best choice whenever possible. The location must then be considered carefully: opening in a large city will certainly generate higher revenue than in a town of just a few thousand inhabitants; a center near a main road exit is more accessible than one hidden in the countryside; a neighborhood with universities or factories with a high density of workers is more advantageous than a sparsely populated suburban area; opening next to an already successful padel club with 10–12 courts is probably not the wisest choice, since clients will inevitably have to be shared with another major competitor, no matter how good you are.

In short, the right location is decisive for the success of the investment. If you are interested in understanding how to make your facility perform at its best, we invite you to read the blog How profitable is a padel court?, where you will also find other useful tips. Enjoy your reading.

Before venturing into this entrepreneurial activity, it is good practice to contact a trusted consultant to assess the feasibility of the project in that location and, if you have identified the right area, also a local technician (engineer, architect, surveyor) who can evaluate in advance whether there are any bureaucratic constraints to carrying out your project.

Do not risk signing rental contracts for unsuitable spaces; it would be a serious waste of both money and time. Once the technician has prepared all the necessary documentation to be submitted to the various competent public authorities and you have received the green light, you can begin the process of choosing a reliable supplier for the courts (and covering, if needed).

Always keep in mind this simple and age-old rule: WHO SPENDS LESS, SPENDS TWICE.

And if it’s true in life, it’s even more true in padel. Clients will choose the center that suits them best, and if you have done everything solely in your own interest (lower-quality courts, poorly leveled ground, uninsulated covering, inadequate services, locker rooms like those of a 1970s sports field), rather than in their interest, you will deeply regret your choice.

When you see padel clubs full every day of the week and others so empty that the only court being used is your own (and you feel you are in a “sad” environment), now you know the answer to why that happens. Choose the best, choose quality. It doesn’t matter whether you choose Padel Corporation or turn to other companies (which may work just as well or even better than us), the important thing is to choose courts as you would want them as a client. You’ll see everything will go well! Good luck!

TUV

Your responsibility — and ours — begins the moment an athlete sets foot inside the facility; therefore, everything must be evaluated with the utmost care and decided without impulsiveness. Do you agree?
Just imagine for a moment what could happen if an athlete in your facility were to get injured. Better not to think about it! Buying a certified product means that it has been built in compliance with Italian construction regulations. Padel courts, for which there is still no specific regulation, fall under the EN1090-1 construction regulation, must have the CE marking, and comply with NTC2018 (technical construction standards).

When purchasing a court, you must have the following certificates:

  • CE product certificate and identification code

  • NTC2018 certification

  • EN1090-1 certification

  • User and maintenance manual for the court (mandatory even if you buy a blender)

  • Professional assembly certificate

At Padel Club Constanța, we have always sought to improve our courts in terms of safety, and although we were deeply convinced that we were doing things correctly, we turned to a third party considered the strictest European control body, TÜV SÜD, which in February 2023, after a process lasting almost two years, declared our courts SAFE, making Padel Club Constanța the first company in the world whose courts are third-party certified.

In conclusion: purchasing a certified padel court means understanding that the client’s responsibility does not end with the installation of the court, the closing of the office, and the filing of documents with the town hall. From that day on, civil and criminal liability begins and lasts as long as the courts remain in use.

Don’t make a mistake! For your safety, your family’s, and your clients’, choose only and exclusively certified courts.
